If you are in crisis
Last updated: October 8, 2026
If you are in crisis or may harm yourself or others, do not rely on the app. In the United States, call or text 988, the Suicide and Crisis Lifeline, any time. If you are in immediate danger, call 911.

911: if you or someone else is in immediate danger.
Mazalot is offered in the United States, so the app names 988. If you are outside the United States, search for "crisis line" with the name of your country to find the number that serves you, or call your local emergency number.
1. What Mazalot is
Mazalot's companion is artificial intelligence, not a real person and not a licensed astrologer, counselor, or professional of any kind. It is for personal reflection and entertainment. It does not provide medical, mental-health, legal, or financial advice. It cannot call for help on your behalf. The app says this on the welcome screen and in Settings. At the start of every call the call screen shows the line "You're talking with an AI astrologer. This is not therapy, medical care, or a crisis service." small and quiet for the first 5 seconds; the line then fades out and does not stay on screen. On a call that reaches three hours, the line fades in again for 5 seconds, and again every three hours after that. Our Terms of Service (sections 2 and 3) say the same.
2. What the app does on every call
This is our protocol for responding to signs of suicidal thinking or self-harm. It runs on every voice call.
- A standing instruction. Every call starts with an instruction to the companion that if you speak about self-harm, not wanting to be here, abuse, danger or severe distress, it must slow down, say honestly that it is an AI and not the help you need right now, give you 988, and offer to keep listening, without continuing the reading.
- A check on every turn. Every time you speak, our server checks your words against fixed rules for signs that you might be thinking about hurting yourself or that you do not want to be here. The rules are written by us and run the same way every time; the AI does not decide whether they fire.
3. What happens when the check finds something
- The companion stops the normal conversation and says, in fixed words, that what you said matters, that it is an AI astrologer and cares about you but is not the help you need right now, and that you can call or text 988, any time, day or night.
- Your screen shows a card with three buttons: Call 988 and Text 988, which open your phone's dialer or messages with 988 filled in, and "I'm okay, continue", which hides the card. The call keeps going either way, and if the rules fire again the card comes back.
- For the next two turns the companion stays with you. It does not go back to your reading, does not bring up your chart, and does not offer you anything. It listens.
- If your next daily reading comes within 72 hours of that call, it opens with the same kind of message and 988 instead of a normal reading.
- The notes from that call are marked so they are not used for reading cards, for the Confidant (the linking feature in section 17 of the Terms), or for other secondary features.
The rules are written to catch clear statements every time, and they may also fire on things people say lightly. If that happens to you, the card and the pause cost you a few seconds. We think that is the right trade. No set of rules catches everything, so please do not wait for the app to prompt you: if you need help, call or text 988.
4. What we record
- A referral record. When the crisis card is first shown in a call, we record the date, which kind of statement the rules matched (direct, indirect or passive) and a two-letter region. This record has no account identifier, no call identifier and no words. We keep these records to report, once a year, how many times we referred someone to a crisis service, as California law requires from July 2027.
- A product event linked to your account. When our after-call processing finds signs of crisis in a call, it writes one product event saying that the call's notes were marked. That event carries your account identifier until your account is deleted, when the identifier is removed. It contains no words from the call.
- The transcript. The words of the call are kept in your transcript like any other call, as our Privacy Policy (section 19) describes, and they are deleted with your account.
- The call recording. Like every call, the call is recorded by our voice provider, ElevenLabs, and the recording is deleted 30 days after the call, or with your account if you delete it first, as our Privacy Policy (section 6) describes. A few named staff can listen to it while it exists, and every listen is logged (Privacy Policy section 9).
Nothing about a crisis moment is ever used for marketing, shown to advertisers or used to make decisions about your account.
5. Reaching a person at Mazalot
Questions about this page or the protocol: info@mazalot.ai. We read every message, but this address is not a crisis line and is not watched around the clock. If you need help now, call or text 988, or call 911.
